Ida Puliwa Mwango, the executive director for Othakarhaka Foundation, a nonprofit charity-based organization which has its secretariat office in Chambe in Mulanje, has urged girls to develop their interest in Science subjects.
The NGO leader made the call with reference to empirical evidence that shows that many girls have a negative attitude in sciences in schools.
She said: “I believe, this is the best we can do for our girl children in order to help them find their way to academic excellence. Our girls should not inferior in the face of science subjects. Our girls should rather see themselves as a suitable gender worthy of excelling in science subjects.”
Most recently this year, Emma, a beneficiary of Othakarhaka education sponsorship was admitted to study Chemistry at the University of Malawi (UNIMA). Another girl, Carol, was admitted to study Pharmacy at the College of Medicine.
