Female Ambassadors aid teen mothers and girls at Othakarhaka Foundation

Driven by the power of being an independent woman, female ambassadors Yowoyani Mponela and Hope Kaunda visited Othakarhaka Charity Foundation in order to spend a quality time with teen mothers and young girls who have once dropped out of school on grounds of limited financial support and early marriage.

The two female ambassadors in pursuit of girls and women empowerment interacted with the girls through a motivation talk and went on to donate clothes as one way of helping them adjust to their new breath of life.

Speaking during the motivational talk, one of the female ambassadors, Yowoyani Mponela, said she is eager to leave a mark on the lives of teen mothers as she believes they deserve a second chance in life.

“I deemed it wise with my friend to invest in teen mothers as they have a huge responsibility of raising their children. As such, we are determined to improve their livelihoods so that they can grow to become independent citizens and afford their daily needs,” She said.

On her part, the executive director for Othakarhaka Charity Foundation, Ida Puliwa Mwango, expressed her gratitude towards the gesture and said she will keep on supporting teen mothers through Othakarhaka school of tailoring.

“As a charity organization, we appreciate the kindness gesture as demonstrated by these two female ambassadors and we are calling for more well wishers to follow suit by supporting young girls and teen mothers,” Mwango said.

Yowoyani and Hope’s donation came a few months after the Minister of Gender, social welfare and Community Development, Hon. Patricia Kaliati’s donation of books to Othakarhaka library.
