Public Health

Othakarhaka’s Commitment to Enhancing Rural Public Health, Alleviating Suffering, and Providing Support.

Within our Public Health Initiatives, Othakarhaka Foundation is committed to enhancing the well-being of underserved communities. Our comprehensive efforts aim to address pressing healthcare challenges and provide critical support.

Palliative Care and Home-Based Assistance

With the invaluable support of the Canadian-based K2 Foundation, we extend our compassion to patients battling illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, and elderly individuals. Our mission is to alleviate physical suffering through pain relief, antibiotics, and other vital medications. We go beyond the physical, offering essential psychosocial support and household supplies, such as soap, milk, likuni phala flour, and blankets.

Be part of our Empowered Volunteers

Our team includes 40 dedicated volunteers from the very communities we serve. These compassionate individuals undergo rigorous training, equipping them to provide crucial care and support to long-term bedridden patients and their families.

Cervical Cancer Screening

We’ve established a vital free clinic for cervical cancer screening, thanks to the generous backing of the K2 Foundation. This clinic serves as a beacon of hope for the most marginalized individuals, particularly women of reproductive age and those in menopause. Given that cervical cancer is a leading cause of death among Malawian women, we’re proud to make a substantial impact on healthcare in the region.
