"Passing on the kindness is transforming communities in Malawi."

Inspired by Ida Puliwa: Ruth’s Path to Impact

Meet Ruth Mwenyali, a resilient student from Demula village in Mulanje. Despite the societal expectations that girls can’t pursue higher education, she is one of our students at the University of Malawi and currently in her third year, specializing in Mathematics for her Bachelor of Education.

Hailing from an extended family with her mother as the primary breadwinner, their struggles with insufficient farm yields have caused financial hardships. Ruth’s educational journey began at Samson School for primary education, and she continued to Gawani Secondary School under Othakarhaka girls education scholarship program  and later became the first girl in her village to get selected to the university of Malawi. Her deep-seated passion is to grow as Mathematician, and her dream is inspired by Ida Puliwa, who has touched many lives.

Ruth aspires to follow in Ida’s footsteps by making a positive impact on the lives of the less privileged and marginalized in her community. We are incredibly proud of Ruth and her determination to break barriers and achieve her dreams. She is a shining example of resilience and hope.
