In mid-January 2024, our Girls Education Scholarship program supported by the Borchard Foundation through the I Demand Access(IDA), sent additional underprivileged girls to enroll in diverse diploma programs at Naminjiwa Technical College in Phalombe district. The students are also our former beneficiaries from our Secondary School scholarship grant.
Adorned with broad smiles, the girls journeyed to the OTK Head Office, equipped with school essentials provided under Our Scholarship program. In an interview with our Media Officer, Lawrence Phambala, one of the girls, Lidia Chiwaya who hails from Nakhonyo Village in Mulanje, expressed gratitude to Othakarhaka Foundation for facilitating her enrollment at Naminjiwa Technical College to pursue Welding and Fabrication. Lidia pledged to diligently acquire essential technical skills, aspiring to establish her own Welding Business in her district.
Naminjiwa Technical College offers Technical, Entrepreneurial, and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) Certificate and Diploma programs, aiming to impart technical skills and vocational training for diverse trades and industries. These TEVET programs in Malawi address skills gaps, enhance employability and contribute to overall economic development.
Othakarhaka Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to Borchard for providing life-changing opportunities to our enthusiastic girls. These programs not only empower them with practical skills but also pave the way for economic empowerment through employment or entrepreneurship. Every child we educate becomes a seed that blossoms into spreading kindness to others.
